GENOVESE, Ljubo (Bo)
Ljubo (Bo) passed away suddenly at his home on November 23, 2017. He was predeceased by his wife Betty, his parents Angelo and Tereza, and his stepson Christopher. He is survived by his children: Ric (Kerry), Don (Diane), Teresa (Dale), and his stepson Stephen, his grandchildren: Megan (Colin), Tanya (Tyler), Brock (Christine), Sean, Tiffany, and Myles (Carolyn), his step-grandchildren: Jenny, Cheryl (Raymond), and Stephen, his great-grandchildren: Paige, Cody, Madylin, Kaylin, Parker, Katie and Lauren, and his goddaughter Susie. He was our Dad, Grandpa, Gramps, Nonno, Biz Nonno, or Bo depending on who he was with but most importantly he was our Rock of Gibraltor. Bo’s life began in Vancouver’s East End and during his younger years he was very proud to be one of the Shoeshine Boys. It was in the East End that he met and married his first wife, Peggy Principe and had their three children. Later he met and married Betty Ryan. He spent 40 years of his life in heavy construction as a carpenter with his final job working as a Foreman for PCL Construction. Bo and Betty moved to Osoyoos following his retirement in the late 80’s. After Betty’s passing in 2009 Bo led a quieter life and eventually made the decision in 2016 to sell his home and move back to the Lower Mainland where there were many more family members and oldtime friends. One of Bo’s great pleasures was his reconnection with his old East End buddies once a month at the Admiral. November 23, 2017 came too soon for Bo as he was living life to the fullest. That was also to be the day he was to meet his newest great-grandchild Parker for the first time. Rest in Peace … we take comfort in knowing you are in a good place. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, 525 Slocan St., Vancouver on December 11 at 11:00 a.m. Bo’s ashes will be placed alongside his beloved wife Betty in Osoyoos Lakeview Cemetery. A graveside blessing and Celebration of Life will be held in Osoyoos in 2018 with information to be announced at a later date.
