June 23, 1943 - July 12, 2018
It is with heavy hearts and deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Gianna Rossetti. Gianna was born in Verona, Italy on June 23, 1943 to Giuseppe and Rosa Faccincani. In 1965 Gianna started her life with Gino Rossetti, becoming his wife. Although devoted Italians, and proud Veronesi, Gianna and Gino moved to Canada in hopes of a better life.
Gianna and Gino started their family soon after arriving in Canada, and together they worked tirelessly alongside each other running a home based automotive repair shop. Whether you so showed up to have your vehicle serviced or just to say hi, the door was always open, and Gianna always had coffee ready.
Gianna dedicated herself to learning a second language, English. In her pursuit, Gianna took evening classes. Her studiousness proved its merit when she successfully passed the Canadian citizenship test, granting her dual citizenship, an accomplishment she was equally proud of.
Even after the passing of Gino, Gianna remained very social. She was selfless and devoted much of her time helping friends and family. Gianna’s attention turned to her love for Latin music and ballroom dancing, and of course her gardening, in which she proudly grew an assortment of vegetables every year.
During recently years, most of Gianna’s time was spent being “Nonni,” the name she received from her granddaughter Sienna. The two were inseparable, but on those rare occasions when they were not together, Gianna would fill her time by sipping on a beer while watching Italian soap operas.
Gianna was predeceased by her husband, Gino and will be remembered by her sons Massimo (Nadia) and Stefano (Jessica), grandchildren Sienna and Roman, her three sisters in Italy: Mirella, Clara and Silvana and many other relatives and friends. Gianna was an amazing mother, grandma, sister and friend. She was loved and adored by everyone and touched many of our hearts. She will be greatly missed. Prayers will be on Wednesday, July 25 at 7:00 p.m. followed by Gianna's funeral service on Thursday, July 26 at 10 a.m. both held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Church, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver, BC.
